Limit Your Fluid Intake

Other fruits, such as strawberries, plum, grapes, peaches, and apples also lead to bladder and prostate irritation and should be avoided. Check your Medication

Certain medication, such as hydrochlorothiazide and Lasix are diuretics, thus boosting the production of urine. It is highly prudent to consume these medications earlier in the day, when frequent visits to the washroom do not pose as big a challenge. In addition, you may also discuss with your doctor about possibly lowering the doses of these medications, especially the evening pills if nighttime urination is affecting the quality of your lifestyle.

Steer Clear of decongestants and antihistamines

All decongestants and antihistamines should be avoided, as they cause the bladder to release the force of contraction, resulting in an ability to empty the bladder completely. Even if you do have to use antihistamines, it’s better to use them earlier in the day.

Frequent Urination

Not releasing your bladder when the nature calls or “holding it in”, greatly enhances the chances of bacteria multiplying. One of the best preventive cautions and remedies for Prostate infections is to urinate frequently, instead of waiting for the urge to become an absolute necessity. Keep making these bathroom runs even if it comes out in small trickles. Empty Your Bladder on Schedule

You can use a clock to help with urination and discipline your bladder. If you realize that you are making infrequent trips to the bathroom, especially at night, try to release your bladder every 3-4 hours, even if you don’t feel the urge to urinate.  Putting your bladder on a schedule helps you maintain a normal lifestyle, one that doesn’t involve searching for a restroom in the middle of your activities.

Avoid Cold Seats

Those uncomfortably cold seats, such as freezing toilet seats or those at the football games in the winter, can pose troubles for your bladder. The cold temperatures can contract the muscles around your prostate, making it extremely difficult to pass out urine. It’s better to use a seat warmer, or something simpler such as a cushion or a blanket to keep your bottom warm and toasted.

Avoid Pressure on Your Prostate

If you have to ride a bike for long distance, be sure to stand on the pedal every ten to fifteen minutes to alleviate the pressure off your prostate gland. Additionally, replace the seat on your bike with one that incorporates a groove down the middle to keep additional pressure off your prostate, especially if you have an already aggravated prostate.
